What is a Somatic Intensive?

Somatic Intensives are a personal retreat, with multiple sessions per day. They are an ideal way to experience the positive outcomes of therapy in a shortened amount of time. You will benefit from a Bodhicitta Somatics Intensive if you:

wish to kick-start and/or accelerate your healing process
must travel to have access to a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP™) who is also professionally licensed and highly trained in modalities which address developmental, attachment, and shock trauma.
wish to treat your complete being, body, mind, and spirit, with a combination of specific, trauma-focused somatic work (Somatic Experiencing®, Feeding Your Demons® [FYD]), guided meditation, and spiritually-supportive whole body treatments (reiki, cranio-sacral therapy, massage).

How Long is a Somatic Intensive?

Somatic Intensives are made up of 90 minute sessions. Most clients choose to attend three sessions per day, beginning at 9 or 10 AM, returning after lunch, and again immediately before dinner.

A typical three to five-day Intensive might start with a cranio-sacral therapy session, add several SE™/Somatic Touch and Feeding Your Demons® (FYD) sessions, and conclude with an integrating massage. Regardless, each Somatic Intensive is custom-designed and is constructed around your specific therapy goals.

Bodhicitta Somatics is located in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, which receives dozens of flights a day at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport. Out-of-town clients will find numerous lodging and dining options available, and rental cars, taxis, local buses, and Bolt (an Uber alternative) abound.

Madeira is a world-renowned resort destination. Annual temperatures in Funchal average between 14C (57F) and 27C (80F), so there’s never a bad time to visit. Between sessions, you may enjoy local walks, and the beautiful Monte Palace Gardens, Botanical Gardens of Madeira, and Funchal city center are just a short commute away.

After your retreat, take time to explore the rest of the island. Levada walks, hiking, water sports, cable car rides, breathtaking viewpoints, and more are easily accessible via public transportation, rental car, or private tours. Additional Helpful Information for your Somatic Intensive

Somatic Intensives must be scheduled in advance. I prepare and maintain a grounded, safe container for your experience; you are my only client during your Somatic Intensive.
Pricing is US $250 (approximately 220€) per 90 minute session. The Dakini and Green Tara deity sessions are available at their respective prices.
Maximum benefit will be attained with careful adherence to retreat-like constraints. A clear schedule and minimal contact with outside demands and electronic devices is best. Your body may feel tired, and it is recommended that time between sessions be spent resting or engaging in contemplative light exercise.. This time is your gift to yourself—allow yourself to be immersed in the experience!
Any transportation, lodging, dining, and entertainment costs are in addition to Somatic Intensive pricing, and are the responsibility of the client.
