Whole Body Wellness with
the Rest and Restore Protocol™ (RRP)
What is the RRP?
The Rest and Restore Protocol™ (RRP) is a new listening therapy created by Polyvagal Theory developer Dr. Stephen Porges and musician Anthony Gorry. Aspects of our heartbeat, respiration, cranio-sacral rhythm, digestion, and more have been infused into five hours of music via a new audio technology called Sonocea®, entraining our nervous system through rhythmic stimulation. We experience deep relaxation and a profound sense of safety and trust within our body.
What are its Benefits?
The RRP is particularly beneficial for addressing a variety of physical issues, including persistent chronic pain, stress-related conditions, and various gut disorders. Preliminary pilot study data suggests specific gains in the following areas:
Better sleep
Increased physical, mental, and emotional ease
Improved digestion
Reduced depression and anxiety
Greater access to feelings
Decrease in PTSD symptoms
Enhanced efficacy of other therapies
More information about the RRP and how it works can be found at this official Unyte/RRP site.
Why Experience the RRP with Bodhicitta Somatics?
I participated in the first and second pilot studies of the RRP in 2024, and have been a certified provider since certification was made available in early 2025.
I have personally experienced deep thawing in my core, better sleep, improved physical coordination, a reduction in food cravings, lighter moods, enhanced efficacy of physical therapy exercises, and improved executive functioning.
Although it’s not a magic pill and should not be considered a stand-alone therapy, the RRP can be a powerful addition to your current wellness practices. I’m a firm believer in its benefits. Learn more about my background, here.
What Equipment do I Need?
You will need an electronic device that supports apps (a cellular phone or a tablet). For Zoom meetings, you’ll need a separate device (most likely a personal computer).
Any headset/earbuds may be used, as can speakers with left and right audio channels.
It’s best to select a quiet, physically comfortable spot to relax in while listening, and having a pen and paper handy to jot down notes can also be helpful.
